SUCCESS STORIES
Implementation at St. Mary’s Medical Center
After sharing his dilemma with his FM Works support representative, the Director of Facilities Management at St Mary’s, Tom Kruer, accepted a proposal to have the FM Works staff provide implementation services. Upon receiving the data in its various formats from St. Mary’s, FM Works applied professional compilation and input methods and soon St. Mary’s was using FM Works for preventive and on-demand maintenance.
Mr. Kruer reports that both applications of the system are going very well and providing all the expected advantages and more to the maintenance/ engineering operations at the medical center. Tracking, accounting, reporting, and reduced documentation time are just a few of the money-saving benefits of FM Works that St. Mary’s is enjoying.
Austin Independent School District
AISD services over 12 million square feet of space, housing 78,000 pieces of equipment; and all of it is serviced using FM Works. In the first month using FM Works, they processed over 8,000 work orders without a hitch. Today they are still as pleased with the system and the high grades have only improved.
AISD’s initial interest in FM Works was piqued by its relationship to ARCHIBUS/FM and the reports on maintenance activity that can be generated through AFM. Together the two systems provide useful results not available through other products.
NEW FEATURES
PM EXPLORER New Tree Control and Structure for Equipment FM Works has just released exciting new features in PM Explorer Version 2.8.1.2. § Separate list/tree controls for PM Procedures and Equipment Schedules The Preventive Maintenance Explorer component has been modified to use separate windows and tree controls for PM Procedures and Equipment Schedules. This means that each can be used independently. In addition, the use of separate lists for each dramatically improves performance when there is a large number of equipment items. § Improved structure and information for locating equipment using Equipment Standard and Equipment Use data. In addition to separate control lists, the structure of the information about equipment has been improved to take advantage of the availability of Equipment Standards and Equipment Use information in the database. § The detailed list of equipment is now synchronized with the Equipment Standard selected in the equipment tree control. For equipment, the right hand pane of the screen now shows a detailed list of the equipment corresponding to the Equipment Standard currently selected in the Equipment tree on the left. As previously, the equipment list in the right hand pane is display-only.

FM Works Goes International
We are very excited about deploying FM Works for our first international customer. A large organization, with seven major sites throughout the United Kingdom, ABRO is an engineering service, repair and re-manufacturing organisation offering a worldwide capability to defence, emergency service and other governmental and non-governmental organisations.
Capabilities range from small arms to battle tanks, from motorcycles to comercial fleet management, and binoculars to thermal imaging equipment. This ensures ABRO can uniquely offer customers a comprehensive one-point service, repair and re-manufacturing solution. FM Works is being implemented to help maintain all of ABRO's facilities throughout the UK.
FM Works is represented in the UK and Europe by MASS Systems which specialises in the development and distribution of high quality computer-based productivity and management solutions for facilities and estates managers, project managers and design professionals.
Serving over 500 customers in both the public and private sectors throughout the UK and wider Europe, MASS Systems provides a comprehensive range of products and services built upon many years of experience and expertise in implementing enterprise-wide solutions.
Working closely with personnel from ABRO and MASS Systems, Skip Roberts of the FM Works staff visited the UK last June to assist with the initial implementation and training. Starting with on-demand maintenance using Works Manager, the deployment is moving ahead from the first site at Warminster to other sites in the UK. Next steps are to deploy e-Works for web-based work requests and PPM Explorer for Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM).
While he was there, Skip also presented FM Works to the UK Archibus User Group and was well received. We look forward to working with MASS Systems on several more UK-based implementations in the near future.
